Blue Golf Drops Six Strokes On Sunday To Finish Sixth At Williams Invite

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Wellesley College golf dropped six strokes from their opening day score of 334, shooting 328 to finish in sixth place at the 2017 Williams Fall Invitational at the Par-71, 6,640 yard Taconic Golf Club.

The Blue entered Sunday eight strokes behind Vassar but the Blue dropped six strokes and the Brewers added 18 to help Wellesley move up the team leaderboard. Wellesley finished 11 strokes behind fifth place Ithaca College (651). Tournament host Williams posted a score of 306 for the second day to win the tournament with a score of 612. Senior Elizabeth Gudas (Binghamton, N.Y.) earned individual medalist honors, shooting a one-over 72 in the final round to total 147 on the weekend.

Sophomore Ryan MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) saw the biggest improvement for the Blue on day two, dropping six strokes from her opening round 86 to finish with an overall score of 166 (86-80) and earn a tie for 34th place. First year Rosey Li (Princeton, N.J.) was the top Wellesley finisher in the tournament, shooting 84 on Sunday after a 78 on Saturday to tie for 25th place with an overall card of 162.

Sophomores Kalau Tanaka-Pesamino (Ewa Beach, Hawai'i) and Isabelle Chun (Palo Alto, Calif.) each improved on day two, with Tanaka-Pesamino going from 85 to 83 and Chun dropping from 86 to 82 to move up the leaderboard. Tanaka-Pesamino finished in 37th (167), while Chun was 38th (168).

Senior Maya Muldowney (Waunakee, Wis.) carded a round of 94 on Sunday to finish in a tie for 58th and first year Abby Zhong (Mercer Island, Wash.) shot an 86, dropping 11 strokes from her opening day score. 

Wellesley will close out the fall season next Saturday, October 14, with a 10:00 AM dual with Division I Holy Cross at Nehoiden Golf Course.
