Blue Golf Moves Up Leaderboard To Finish Fourth at Williams Fall Invite
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Wellesley College golf shed nine strokes from their opening round score to move up to fifth place on the final day of the Williams Fall Invitational at the par-71 6,640 yard Taconic Golf Club.
After shooting a combined 329 on Saturday, Wellesley finished with a total of 320 on Sunday to total 649 for the tournament. The Blue finished 16 strokes back of third place Amherst (323-310-633). NYU (319-303-622) rallied past host Williams (315-310-625) to win the tournament. Middlebury's Chloe Levins finished five strokes ahead of the field (+4) to earn individual medalist honors (70-76-146).
First year Chansie Yang (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) was the top-finisher for the Blue, as she was tied for ninth (78-79-157). Junior Ryan MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) moved from a tie for 21st to a tie for 17th after dropping five strokes from her score on Sunday (83-78-161).
First year Ella Warburg (Mercer Island, Wash.) was one stroke back of MacVicar in a tie for 20th (82-80-162), while first year Carmen Chan (Birmingham, Mich.) took 26th overall (80-86-166) and classmate Aine Kenwood (Potomac, Md.) tied for 34th (86-84-170). First year Hannah Blonder (Westwood, Mass.) added a round of 83 on Sunday to finish tied for 42nd (92-83-175).
Wellesley will play their final event of the fall season on Saturday, October 13 versus Holy Cross at Blackstone National in Sutton, Mass.
