Wellesley Golf Tops Cortland in 18-Hole Match at ChampionsGate C.C.

CHAMPIONSGATE, Fla. – Wellesley College golf finished with a team score of 345 to defeat SUNY Cortland by 14 strokes in an 18-hole match on Friday afternoon at the Par-72, 7,058 yard ChampionsGate Country Club, located just outside of Orlando, Fla. 

Wellesley first year Audrey Lin (Fremont, Calif.) led all players with a round of 79, finishing five strokes ahead of classmate Aine Kenwood (Potomac, Md.). First year Chansie Yang (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) carded a 90, while junior Ryan MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) and first year Ella Warburg (Mercer Island, Wash.) fired matching rounds of 92 to round out the Blue team score. 

Playing as an individual for Wellesley, first year Carmen Chan (Birmingham, Mich.) posted the third lowest round of the day for the Blue with an 85. First year Hannah Blonder added a 90 to complete the Wellesley scores. 

Junior Danielle Bambola (Miller Place, N.Y.) had the low round for the Red Dragons, posting the second best round of the day with an 83. Cortland totaled 358 strokes as a team. 

Wellesley will continue the spring season on April 21 and 22 at the Vassar Invitational in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
