MacVicar, Blonder Lead Blue Golf on Day One at MHC Invitational

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College golf is in seventh place following opening round play on Saturday at the 2019 Mount Holyoke College Invitational at the par-72, 6,575 yard The Orchards Golf Club. 

Wellesley (335) trails sixth place Ithaca (334) by one stroke and fifth place Hamilton (329) by six strokes following a competitive first round. Williams (306) leads the field by four strokes, with Middlebury (310) in second and NYU close behind in third (313). Amherst is in fourth (322), while the Blue have a five stroke lead on eighth place Bowdoin (340).  

Senior Ryan MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) and sophomore Hannah Blonder (Westwood, Mass.) are among a group of six golfers currently tied for 26th (+10) on the leaderboard following matching rounds of 82. MacVicar is among the tournament leaders in Par-3 scoring, at +1, while Blonder had a team-best two birdies on Saturday.

First year Caroline MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) is three strokes back (+13) in a tie for 39th place thanks to a first round 85, while sophomore Ella Warburg (Mercer Island, Wash.) is just one stroke back (+14) in a tie for 44th after carding an 86. Sophomore Aine Kenwood (Potomac, Md.) rounded out the Blue scores on Saturday. Kenwood is currently tied for 56th thanks to a 93. 

Final round play from The Orchards begins on Sunday at 9:00 AM.
