Warburg Leads Blue Golf to 5th Place Finish at Phinney Classic

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- Wellesley College golf closed out the weekend in fifth place at the George Phinney Golf Classic, hosted by Middlebury College at the The Ralph Myhre Golf Course.

The Blue (322-331-653) finished nine strokes back of fourth place NYU (324-320-644). Host Middlebury took home the team title (312-322-634), while Amherst was second (317-323-640) and Williams finished in third (317-324-641). Middlebury's Chloe Levins (74-79-153) earned individual medalist honors, defeating Morgan Yurosek (77-76-153) on the second hole of a playoff.

Wellesley sophomore Ella Warburg (Mercer Island, Wash.) finished in a tie for sixth to lead the Blue. Warburg carded an 80 on day two to finish at 159 for the weekend. After opening with an 80 on Saturday, first year Kate MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) shot an 83 on Sunday, finishing in 18th with a two-day total of 163. Classmate Caroline MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) was two strokes back in a tie for 23rd (87-80-167).

Rounding out the scores for the Blue, sophomore Hannah Blonder (Westwood, Mass.) finished in a tie for 30th (79-90-169) and senior Ryan MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) closed out the weekend in a tie for 37th (84-88-172).

Wellesley will wrap-up the fall season next weekend at the Williams Invitational, Saturday and Sunday, October 5-6.
