Wellesley Golf Takes Fifth at Vassar Invitational

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Wellesley College golf team finished in fifth place in the first spring tournament of the 2022 season at the Vassar College Invitational on Sunday.

NYU claimed first place with a winning score of 618 which was one shot ahead of Amherst College at 619. Williams (630) took third, Middlebury (656) took fourth, and the Blue placed fifth with a team score of 659.

After firing a first round 82, Junior Kate MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) came back with a second round 79 to lead the Blue. Senior Ella Warburg (Mercer Island, Wash.) shot a 163 (81-82) over the weekend and finished T-19 on the individual leaderboard. Sophomore Emma Lim (Naperville, Ill.) followed up her first round of 76 with a 88 on Sunday.

Junior Caroline MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) made 18 total pars this weekend and went 81-85 (166) and earned a T-27 finish. Sophomore Muzi Fang (Beijing, China) bounced back with a second round 86 and senior Aine Kenwood (Potomac, Md.) finished with an overall score of 172.

This Blue will next compete at the Jack Leaman Invitational hosted by Amherst on Saturday, April 23 and Sunday, April 24.
