Wellesley Golf Finishes as Runner-Up at Liberty League Championship

Verona, N.Y. – The Wellesley golf team took second place at the 2022 Liberty League Championship at Kaluhyat Golf Course at Turning Stone Resort.

NYU came away with the first place trophy after shooting a two-day 607 (+31). The Blue finished in second with a total score of 656. Ithaca College took third place with a two-day 692 and Union (N.Y.) placed fourth with a 717. St. Lawrence (809) remained in fifth place and William Smith (819) rounded out the scoring in sixth.

After a first round 74, Junior Kate MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) followed up with a 76 on Sunday and finished as the tournament runner-up and made the All-Liberty League First Team. MacVicar made two birdies in the second round after making an ace on 17 on Saturday. Ella Warburg (Mercer Island, Wash.) was able to crack the top-10 with a seventh place finish. The senior shot an 83 with a pair of birdies on the back nine on day two. Junior Caroline MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) dropped five shots and fired a second round 82 to finish in ninth place overall. Both players were named to the All-Liberty League Second Team.

Senior Aine Kenwood (Potomac, Md.) also lowered her score from Saturday and shot an 85 for a two-day total of 173 and a tie for 12th overall and finished as an All-Liberty League Honorable Mention. Sophomore Emma Lim (Naperville, Ill.) finished the weekend at 87-89 and a tie for 16th place.
