Three from Lacrosse Earn All-Conference; Nettleton Named Rookie of the Year
WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Wellesley College lacrosse team took home several post-season awards, as announced by the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) on Tuesday. The Blue placed three on the NEWMAC All-Conference team, while  also earning Rookie of the Year honors.

Earning All-Conference honors for Wellesley were juniors
Claire Canty and Meghan Peterson and first-year Wendy Nettleton, who also garnered Co-Rookie of the Year honors. This is the third NEWMAC Rookie of the Year honor for Wellesley lacrosse since 2011.

Canty was named to the NEWMAC All-Conference team for the third year in a row. The junior led the Blue in goals (30), assists (22), points (52), and draw controls (93), with her draw control total ranking in the top-25 nationally. Canty's 93 draw controls this season also set a new program mark in the category. Canty finished out the season ranked in the top-five in the NEWMAC in assists and caused turnovers (16).

Peterson earns her first All-Conference honor in lacrosse. The junior led the Blue with 33 ground balls and 23 caused turnovers this season, while also racking up 31 points on 24 goals and seven assists. Peterson averaged 1.53 caused turnovers per game, the best average in the NEWMAC. She also ranked in the top-10 in ground balls and shooting percentage, and in the top-15 in draw controls. 

Nettleton started 10 the Blue's 15 games in goal this season, playing 687 total minutes. She racked up 116 saves was the goalie of record in each of Wellesley's NEWMAC wins this season. Nettleton made 10 or more saves in five games this season, including making a career-high 14 stops against Wesleyan. She also ranked in the top-three among all NEWMAC goalies in both save percentage and goals against.
