Wellesley College Lacrosse Signs Matilda through Team IMPACT
WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College lacrosse Interim Head Coach Alisa Marino announced a new team member, signing 7-year-old Matilda through Team IMPACT. Matilda's siblings, Henry and Winnie, joined in on the signing and became members of the Blue.
Matilda, Henry and Winnie were officially introduced at a signing day press conference on Wednesday, February 21 at the Keohane Sports Center on campus.
"We are thrilled to welcome Matilda, Henry and Winnie to our team this year," said Coach Marino. "Each of them brings a positive energy that we will carry with us in every game this season."
Team IMPACT, a national non-profit organization, has developed a unique multiyear program that matches children facing serious illness and disability with college athletic teams across the country. Based on a clinical model, Team IMPACT guides a symbiotic relationship between teams and children focused on socialization, empowerment, and resilience.
"Team IMPACT is excited to see Matilda, Henry, and Winnie officially join the Blue," said Emma Simches, Regional Director of Programs, Northeast at Team IMPACT. "We are proud to work alongside Wellesley College, their athletic department, and coaching staff to create lifelong bonds and life-changing outcomes between student-athletes and their Team IMPACT teammates."
Matilda, Henry and Winnie will participate in many activities with the team including games, practices, and other team events.
