Cerda Named NEWMAC Soccer Defensive POTW

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College's Claire Cerda was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending September 15.

Cerda recorded a pair of shutouts in a 2-0 week for the Blue. The senior tallied three saves in 105 minutes of work against Lesley on Wednesday, holding the Lynx scoreless for the first time in 2014. On Saturday, Cerda worked 90 scoreless minutes, recording four stops in a win over Regis.

Cerda and company have led the Blue soccer team to its best start in over 10 years. Wellesley is riding a four-game win streak without allowing a goal. The Blue are 5-1 on the season.

Wellesley is back in action on Wednesday, traveling to Endicott for a 7:00pm non-conference match-up.
