Wellesley Soccer's Phillips Named to NEWMAC All-Conference First Team

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the 2016 Women's Soccer All-Conference team on Wednesday and Wellesley College first year Carley Phillips (Waterford, Conn.) has earned All-Conference first team honors. 

Phillips scored a team-high seven goals for the Blue during her rookie season, adding a pair of assists to finish the season as the tem's leading scorer with 16 points. The first year forward notched a pair of multi-goal games on the season. She scored a pair of goals in her collegiate debut at Simmons, a 2-1 Wellesley victory, before going on to record her first collegiate hat trick as the Blue defeated Coast Guard, 4-0 on October 25. Phillips also earned NEWMAC Player of the Week honors on September 9th following a three-goal opening week. 

Wellesley College soccer finished the 2016 season with a 7-10-1 overall record and a 4-5-1 mark in conference play, returning to the NEWMAC Tournament for the first time since 2013 before falling in the quarterfinals, 1-0, to MIT.
