Wellesley Soccer Downs UMass Dartmouth, 4-0

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- First year Thea Feldgoise (Brookline, Mass.) scored a pair of goals to lead Wellesley College soccer to a 4-0 non-conference win over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon at the Wellesley Fields Complex.

Junior Olivia Postel (Durham, N.C.) and first year Eliza Roy (Camden, Maine) also scored for the Blue, who are now 3-2-0 overall and 2-2 at home. UMass Dartmouth is now 1-2-0.

Wellesley scored two goals in the opening 5:03 of the first to take control of the game early. Postel got the party started with an unassisted effort, netting the first of her career when she corralled a deflection off the hand of Corsair goalkeeper Katherine Hubbard (Haverhill, Mass.) on a corner kick and knocked the ball into the net at 3:37. Postel's goal would stand as the game-winner. Roy added the second Blue goal less than a minute and a half later, finishing on a one-on-one chance to make the score 2-0.

Feldgoise put the Blue ahead 3-0 at 12:57, as Roy set-up her classmate with a pass that split the Corsair defense down the middle of the field. The Blue carried the three-goal lead into the break before Feldgoise put the game away late in the second, running on to a clearance kick from first year goalkeeper Kendall Lincoln (San Diego, Calif.) and finishing around Hubbard.

Lincoln made five saves in relief of Blue starter Olivia Reckley (Grosse Ile, Mich.). Reckley turned back one shot to earn the win (3-2). Hubbard made seven stops in the Corsair goal in the setback (0-1). The Blue finished the game with a 17-9 advantage in shots.

Wellesley will welcome Roger Williams in a non-conference contest on Tuesday, September 17, at 4:00 PM. UMass Dartmouth will play host to Clark on Tuesday at 7:00 PM.
