Solid Defensive Effort Leads to 0-0 Draw with Babson College

BABSON PARK, Mass. -- Goalkeeper Kendall Lincoln (San Diego, Calif.) made four big saves as the Blue earned a 0-0 tie with Babson College on Wednesday afternoon.

Wellesley soccer recorded a tie for the third time in the past five contests moving to 5-3-3 overall and 1-3-3 in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play. Babson also earns a split for the third time this year and stands at 7-5-3 overall and 3-2-2 in the conference.

The Beavers put up two shots early in the first half, but none posed a threat as one went wide and the other high. The Blue had a pair of corner kicks late in the period to no prevail, as the team couldn't fire up a shot. Lincoln recorded two saves over a two minute span and the game went all square into the half.

Sophomore Ella Pierce (Camden, Maine.) had an opportunity at the 59 minute mark, but her shot sailed high and the game remained scoreless. With both sides controlling the game defensively, the game was forced into overtime. In the first overtime period, junior Eliza Roy (Camden, Maine) nearly ended the game on a counter attack. Babson keeper Morgan Fedosiewich (Ottawa, Ontario) stayed poised and made a clutch save to keep the Beavers alive. Neither team put up another shot and the game was sent into double overtime.

Four minutes into the period, Paige Sangston (Greenwich, Conn.) attempted a header off a corner kick, but couldn't direct it towards the net. Pierce would try once more for the Blue as her shot sailed wide and the game ended in a draw.

Wellesley remains on the road and seeks to get back in the winning column in a match with Emerson on Saturday, October 23, at 1:00 PM. Babson will also hit the road to take on Smith on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
