BEVERLY, Mass. -- Endicott College first year Eliza Walker (Marshfield, Mass.) scored the only goal of the game at 74:22 of the second half to lead the host Gulls to a 1-0 victory over Wellesley College soccer on Wednesday evening at Hempstead Stadium.
Walker scored her first collegiate goal with a headed effort at the far post on an Endicott corner sent into the penalty area by Julia Matus (East Greenwich, R.I.). The Gulls finished the game with an 8-2 advantage in corner opportunities, including a 5-0 edge in the second half.
Endicott goalkeeper Jacqueline Ruggiero (Dedham, Mass.) earned the victory (2-1-0). Wellesley goalkeeper's Kendall Lincoln (San Diego, Calif.) and Riley McNair (Cupertino, Calif.) combined to make three saves in the setback. The Gulls finished the game with a 7-5 advantage in shots and a 4-0 edge in shots on target.
The Blue will head to Boston to take on Suffolk in non-conference action on Saturday at noon. Endicott will travel to face Hartwick on Saturday at 12:30 PM.
