Feldgoise Scores Twice as Blue Soccer Tops Lesley, 3-1

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Senior Thea Feldgoise (Brookline, Mass.) scored a pair of second half goals to help rally Wellesley College soccer to a 3-1 non-conference victory over Lesley University on Wednesday afternoon at the Wellesley Fields Complex.

Feldgoise registered her third career multi-goal game as part of a three-goal second half for Wellesley (3-1-0 overall). Sophomore Lauren Rudolph (Winchester, Va.) scored the only goal for Lesley (1-4 overall) in the setback.

Rudolph's goal came at 55:43 of the second half following a scoreless first half. The Lesley forward capitalized on a Wellesley turnover to score her first collegiate goal on a long distance effort from just outside the penalty area. However, the lead did not last long for the Lynx.

Feldgoise netted her first of the game and first of the season at 62:13, running on to the ball on the break on a pass from junior Paige Sangston (Greenwich, Conn.) before finishing around Lesley senior goalkeeper Audrey Calhoun (Chapel Hill, NC). Feldgoise found the net again and gave the Blue the lead at 62:13 when junior Cindy Zeng (Mill Creek, Wash.) sliced a through ball pass to the senior striker who calmly finished to give the Blue the lead, 2-1.

Sangston and Zeng combined to push the Wellesley lead to 3-1 at 71:23. Sangston delivered a through ball to a sprinting Zeng who collected it with a touch around the keeper and scored her first of the year. Both Sangston and Zeng recorded multi-point games for the first time in their respective careers.

Lesley finished the contest with a 10-7 edge in shots. Senior Kendall Lincoln (San Diego, Calif.) and first year Riley McNair (Cupertino, Calif.) combined to make four saves for the Blue. McNair (1-1) earned the win, making two saves in the second half. Calhoun (0-3) made all three saves in the game for the Lynx after coming on to replace starter Lauren Lacy (Colorado Springs, Colo.) after halftime.

Wellesley will open New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Saturday at 2:00 PM when the Blue host Coast Guard. Lesley will host Thomas College in its next game on Monday evening at 7:00 PM.
