CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - MIT scored a second half goal to defeat Wellesley College soccer 1-0 on Tuesday at Roberts Field.
Junior Meagan Rowlett (Dana Point, Calif.) scored her seventh goal of the season for MIT (11-3-1 Overall, 6-0 NEWMAC). First year goalie Sascha Fleesler (New York, N.Y.) made six saves for the Blue (5-6-1 Overall, 0-5-1 NEWMAC).
Neither team scored in the first half, with Fleesler (New York, N.Y.) saving two shots for the Blue.
At the 61:04 mark MIT got on the board. Rowlett took a pass from graduate student Karenna Groff (Weston, Mass.) and lifted the pass just under the crossbar to give MIT the 1-0 lead. The assist was Groff's 25th of her career.
The Blue return next Wednesday when they host Babson in NEWMAC play at 3:00 PM. The Engineers finish up their two-game home stretch on Saturday with a NEWMAC game against Emerson at 4:00 PM.
