Feldgoise Scores as Wellesley Soccer Ties Wheaton, 1-1

NORTON, Mass. - Wellesley College soccer scored a second half goal in a 1-1 draw against Wheaton in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Wednesday at Mirrione Stadium.

Junior Thea Feldgoise (Brookline, Mass.) scored her fourth goal of the season for the Blue (5-7-3 Overall, 0-6-3 NEWMAC) and senior goalie Kendall Lincoln (San Diego, Calif.) made seven saves. Junior goalie Felicia Fauteux (Granby, Conn.) made five saves for the Lyons (7-8-2 Overall, 4-5-1 NEWMAC).

Wheaton was able to score at the 31:29 mark when a shot richotted off the post and deflected of a Wellesley defender into the goal, giving the Lyons a 1-0 lead that they held going into halftime.

Early in the second half at the 51:25 mark Feldgoise connected on a shot that she lofted from the top of the box just inside the right post to tie the game at 1-1. Junior Paige Sangston (Greenwich, Conn.) assisted on the goal. The Lyons managed six shots on goal in the second half but Lincoln stopped them all, securing the tie as time expired.

The Blue will conclude their season at Mount Holyoke on Saturday with a 1:00 PM game. The Lyons clinched to No. 6 seed in the NEWMAC with the tie, and will travel for the NEWMAC Quarterfinals next Tuesday against a team to be determined.
