Wellesley Squash Rolls to 9-0 Sweep of Northeastern

WELLESLEY, Mass. — Wellesley College squash cruised to a 9-0 victory over Northeastern University on Saturday afternoon at Dana Hall School.

The Blue won all but one match by a count of 3-0, earning their fourth victory in a row and second in the last two days.

Sarah Zhang defeated the Huskies Nicole Powers at the number one spot by a count of 11-2, 11-5, 11-0, while Phyllis Lin defeated Alex Berg at number two by counts of 11-1, 11-3, 11-3. Rhea Advanni topped Lucia Ryll 11-1, 11-2, 11-1 at number three while Gabriella Wynne swept her way to a 11-0, 11-5, 11-3 victory.

Wellesley's Navisha Gupta posted what was perhaps the Blue's most one-sided result of the night, taking the number five match-up by scores of 11-0, 11-0, 11-2.

From there, the Blue ran the table to finish with a 9-0 sweep. Ruby Feng defeated Jessica Qiu at number six while Sarah Tammaro defeated Molly Adams and Mollee Jain defeated Asel Primbetova in the seven and eight match-ups.

Only NU's Khloe Lewis was able to win a game on the day, taking the third set from Meredith Curry at the number nine position. However, that did little to slow Curry as the Blue first year closed out the match with an 11-6 victory in the next round.

Wellesley's Harshita Yerramreddy also scored a pair of victories for the Blue, winning two non-scoring matches on the evening, 3-0, over NU's Maddy Linberg and Felicia Simmons.

Wellesley squash will be back in action next Saturday, November 16, when they travel to take on Colby.
