Wellesley Squash Tops Boston College, 6-3

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College squash grabbed its third victory in a row, defeating Boston College, 6-3, on Friday night at Dana Hall School. The Blue improve to 3-1 overall while the Eagles now stand at 2-2.

Wellesley won positions one through six to earn the victory, taking 3-0 victories in all six matchup-ups. First year Sarah Zhang defeated BC captain Caroline Whelan, 3-0, taking scores of 11-3, 11-5 and 11-4. Zhang's classmate Phyllis Lin also scored a 3-0 victory at number two, defeating Alexis Ditomassi 11-9, 11-8, 11-8.

At number three, sophomore Rhea Advani defeated Carlie Ladda, 3-0, while Gabriella Wynne, Navisha Gupta and Ruby Feng all added 3-0 Blue victories at positions four through six.

The Eagles bounced back to grab victories at seven through ten. Nelsmarie Matos defeated Sarah Tammaro, 3-1, in a back-and-forth four set match. BC's Elizabeth Herman then defeated Mollee Jain, 3-0, at number eight, while Remy Fischer topped Meredith Curry, 3-0, and Paige Hanauer also scored a victory over the Blue's Harshita Yerramreddy.

"It was a solid win," noted Wellesley Assistant Coach David Renninger following the match. "We'll be looking to carry the momentum into tomorrow's match against Northeastern."

The Blue and the Huskies will square off tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 PM at Dana Hall School.
