Hamilton Hands Wellesley Squash 7-2 Setback

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Hamilton College took a 7-2 victory over Wellesley College squash on Sunday afternoon at Harvard University's Murr Center Courts. The match was the third in three days for the Blue, who now stand at 3-2 overall on the season. Hamilton improves to 2-1 with the win.

Wellesley earned victories at the number two and number three positions. Sophomore Phyllis Lin (Acton, Mass.) rebounded from a Saturday afternoon five-game loss to defeat Hamilton's Lindsay Arader in another five-game marathon, 11-4, 8-11, 10-12, 12-10, 11-9.

Junior Meera Nayar (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) needed only three games to secure a victory at number three, downing Haley Connor by a score of 11-8, 11-6, 11-8 to earn her first win of the weekend and her third of the season. 

Senior Gabriella Wynne (Brookline, Mass.) and junior Rhea Advani (Mumbai, India) each battled to four-game setbacks at number four and five, respectively. Wynne dropped an 11-8, 13-11, 10-12, 11-5 to Lillie Simourian, while Advani was defeated by Grace Munschauer, 11-5, 11-3, 8-11, 11-4.

Hamilton, currently ranked 19th in the College Squash Association took 3-0 victories in the remaining matches over the 23rd ranked Blue.

Wellesley will return to the courts on Wednesday, December 2, when they play Connecticut College at 6:30 PM at MIT.
