Blue Squash Celebrates Senior Day With 8-1 Win Over BC

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- No. 21 Wellesley College squash defeated Boston College, 8-1, on Tuesday night at the Dana Hall School's Shipley Center. The Blue, up one spot in this week's College Squash Association rankings, improve to 13-4 overall following their ninth consecutive victory.

Wellesley recognized seniors Gabriella Wynne (Brookline, Mass.) and Kate Loftus (Portland, Ore.) prior to this evening's match, the final home tilt of the season for the Blue.

Both Wynne and Loftus earned wins in their final appearances at the Shipley Center. Wynne defeated Grace Tregidgo, 11-3, 11-3, 11-3, at number five and Loftus defeated Nelsmarie Matos, 11-4, 11-5, 11-5 at six to help spur the Blue to their second win of the season over the Eagles. 

Junior Rhea Advani (Mumbai, India) took an 11-1, 11-4, 11-5, win over Grace Lavoie at number four, while on the main court the Blue also swept the top three pairings. At one, sophomore Sarah Zhang (Lexington, Mass.) engineered an 11-6, 11-2, 12-10 victory over Sara Rimmler after classmate Phyllis Lin (Acton, Mass.) topped BC captain Caroline Whelan, 11-3, 11-5, 11-5, and junior Meera Nayar (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) defeated Carlie Ladda 11-2, 11-8, 11-7.

Wellesley got wins at seven and eight thanks to Navisha Gupta (Mumbai, India) and Ruby Feng (Old Lyme, Conn.) before the Eagles got on the board thanks to a win from Allis Goguen at number nine. 

Wellesley squash closes out the regular season with a pair of matches this weekend. The Blue will travel to Colby on Saturday, February 13, at 1:00 PM and Brown on Sunday, February 14, at 6:00 PM.
