No. 22 Blue Squash Cruises Past Conn. College, 8-1

NEW LONDON, Conn. – No. 22 Wellesley College squash earned an 8-1 victory over No. 29 Connecticut College on Saturday at the Connecticut College squash courts. With the win, the Blue are 3-0 for the first time since the program opened the 2010-11 campaign with three-consecutive victories at the Dana Hall School. 

Wellesley showed off its depth in the match, winning each of the top seven matches to earn the Blue's eighth-straight win over the Camels, dating back to the 2011-12 season. Junior Sarah Zhang (Lexington, Mass.) defeated Mawa Ballo, 6-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-9, at No. 1, while Wellesley earned 3-0 sweeps in the No. 2 through No. 5 matches.

Senior Meera Nayar (Chicago, Ill.) took down Adrienne Sieverding, 11-9, 11-8, 11-5, at No. 2, while first year Eva Mullarkey (Locust Valley, N.Y.) defeated Anne Holly, 11-4, 11-8, 11-2, at No. 3 and junior Haley Connor (Boston, Mass.) swept past Davis Lemay 11-8, 11-3, 11-1, at No. 4. At No. 5, senior Rhea Advani (Mumbai, India) earned an 11-2, 11-3, 11-4 win over Margaret Davey. 

At No. 6, senior Ruby Feng (Old Lyme, Conn.) needed five games but was able to defeat Jacqueline Chu, 7-11, 11-8, 11-3, 8-11, 11-5. First year Eunbie Coe (Los Angeles, Calif.) and sophomore Lumi Kinjo (Tokyo, Japan) closed out the Wellesley win with victories at No. 7 and No. 9, respectively. 

Wellesley will close out the first semester with a 4:00 PM match tomorrow, December 4, at Williams.
