Blue Squash Falls to Hamilton in CSA Epps Cup Semifinals, 7-2

 PRINCETON, N.J. -- Wellesley College squash saw its run in the 2017 College Squash Association's (CSA) Epps Cup come to an end on Saturday afternoon, falling to Hamilton College, 7-2, in a tightly contested semifinal match at the Lawrenceville School.

No. 26 Hamilton improves to 8-12 overall and will play Colby in the Epps Cup final on Sunday morning. The No. 27 ranked Blue drop to 8-11 on the year and will close out the season with a Seven Sisters rematch against No. 29 Mount Holyoke College in the consolation draw on Sunday at 9:00 AM.

Junior Haley Connor (Boston, Mass.) and first year Eunbie Coe (Los Angeles, Calif.) secured Wellesley's two wins in the match. Connor was the winner at No. 3, where she earned a 3-1 (11-6, 7-11, 11-6, 13-11) win over Perry Von Stade to improve to 2-0 on the weekend. At No. 6, Coe outlasted Molly Pivorotto, clinching the match in five games after Pivorotto rallied from a 2-0 deficit (11-9, 11-5, 9-11, 8-11, 11-9) to tie Coe.

Coe's match at No. 6 was one of four five-game matches in the contest, unfortunately for the Blue the remaining three matches all went in Hamilton's favor. At No. 2, Charlotte Zonis defeated first year Eva Mullarkey (locust Valley, N.Y.), while senior Rhea Advani (Mumbai, India) also fell in five to Katherine Bauer at No. 4,and Natalie Burkardt defeated Blue junior Meredith Curry (Medfield, Mass.), 3-2, at No. 7. Hamilton's Elizabeth Lee also took the exhibition match by a 3-2 count over Wellesley junior Audrey Fok (Great Neck, N.Y.). Hamilton closed out the 7-2 victory with wins at No. 1, 5, 8 and 9 to advance to the final.
