Wellesley Squash Falls To Mount Holyoke on Final Day of CSA Epps Cup

PRINCETON, N.J. -- No. 29 Mount Holyoke College earned a 7-2 victory over No. 27 Wellesley College squash on the final day of the College Squash Association (CSA) Epps Cup at the Lawrenceville School.

Seniors Meera Nayar (Chicago, Ill.) and Rhea Advani (Mumbai, India) closed out their Wellesley careers with victories in the match. At No. 1, Nayar opened with a 12-10 victory over Brandy Williamson, before dropping games two and three, 5-11 and 8-11. Nayar wasn't fazed after falling in a 2-1 hole, rallying to take a 13-11 win in the fourth game and an 11-8 win in the deciding fifth game to win the match 3-2. Nayar ends the season at 7-13 overall and 5-11 in matches at No. 1.

Advani needed four games to win her matchup with Allison Shilling at No. 4. Advani took games one and two, 11-2 and 11-9, but Shilling extended the match to a fourth game with a 10-12 win in game three. However, Advani closed it out in the fourth game with an 11-7 victory to finish the season with an 8-7 overall record.

The Lyons took victories in the remaining seven matches to clinch their second win of the season over the Blue. At No. 2, Ragini Ghose swept (12-10, 11-6, 11-7) past first year Eva Mullarkey (Locust Valley, N.Y.). Despite the setback for Mullarkey, she completed her rookie season with a team-high 10 victories, going 10-10 overall, including an 8-2 mark in her final 10 matches.

No. 3 Nadindhi Udanagawa and No. 8 Rose Minichiello also earned 3-0 wins for the Lyons, defeating junior Haley Connor (Boston, Mass.) and sophomore Lumi Kinjo (Tokyo, Japan), respectively. 3-1 wins by Lessly Portillo over senior Ruby Feng (Old Lyme, Conn.) at No. 5, Emily Chang over first year Eunbie Coe (Los Angeles, Calif.) at No. 6, Tanishka Sachidanand over junior Meredith Curry (Medfield, Mass.) at No. 7, and Amanda Lee over first year Elena Ubeda (Natick, Mass.) at No. 9 secured the 7-2 win for the Lyons.
