Wellesley Diving With Strong Showing at New England Invitational

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Wellesley College swimming and diving team kicked-off the 2014-15 season on Saturday afternoon at the New England Invitational, hosted by WPI on Saturday afternoon.

In the one meter diving competition, Wellesley first year Maura Sticco-Ivins won her first collegiate event with a score of 281.70-- finishing more than 40 points ahead of the next closest competitor. Another Blue first year, Emily Moore placed third at 218.55, while senior Gabby Cooper-Vespa also placed in the top five with a score of 201.05. 

In the three meter event Sticco-Ivins took home second place with a score of 236.20. Cooper-Vespa helped the Blue gain another top five finish, placing fourth with a score of 202.45. Moore rounded out the Wellesley scores in the three meter competition with a score of 167.10, good enough for ninth overall. 

Wellesley swimming and diving will now look to next weekend when they host Clark on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
