Blue's Sticco-Ivins Named NEWMAC's Top Diver for Third Straight Week

WELLESLEY, Mass. — Wellesley College swimming and diving's Maura Sticco-Ivins has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Diver of the Week for the period ending January 11, 2015.

This is the third consecutive, and fourth overall, NEWMAC diver of the week honor for the Framingham, Mass. native. Sticco-Ivins also earned the award on November 4th and 23rd, as well as on December 8th.

Sticco-Ivins won three competitions this week, all against NEWMAC competition. On Wednesday versus Babson and Coast Guard, the rookie recorded a score of 284.35 to win the 1-meter diving competition.

On Saturday, she went on to win both the 1- and 3-meter events in a dual meet vs. Smith -- setting a new school record with her performace in the 3-meter. In the 1-meter, Sticco-Ivins recorded the top score of 281.75, while in the 3-meter she was the only diver to score over 300, with a school record performance of 314.20.

Wellesley swimming & diving will return to action on Saturday and Sunday at the annual Seven Sisters Championship, hosted this year by Mount Holyoke College.
