Blue Swimming & Diving Earns 171-118 Dual Meet Win over Mount Holyoke

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College swimming & diving topped Mount Holypoke College in a dual meet on Saturday, defeating the Lyons 171-118. Wellesley is now 7-1 in dual meets on the season and a perfect 5-0 in 2015. 

Wellesley won 10 of 16 event, securing the team victory in the 100-Fly by sweeping the top three spots behind Sarah May's first place time of 1:00.68. Hannah Augst and Misha Olynyk finished second and third at 1:01.89 and 1:04.06. 

May swam to victory in both butterfly events, as the sophomore also took the 200-Fly with a time of 2:15.47. 

Augst also won a pair of events for the Blue, starting her day with a time of 2:00.41 to win the 200-Free. She recorded the top time of 2:12.41 in the 200-Back. 

Junior Dorothy Ren picked up the first of her two first place times in the 100-Back, finishing under a minute with a time of 59.84. Ren then led a one-two-three finish for the Blue in the 100-Free, touching the wall at 55.55. Patricia Chen and May finished just behind Ren with time of 56.80 and 57.18. 

Charlotte Harris and Patricia Chen also earned individual victories for the Blue. Harris clocked in at 1:08.64 to post the top time in the 100-Breaststroke ahead of teammates Lindsey Wu (1:10.97) and Erin Yang (1:11.86). Chen out-touched Mount Holyoke's Katie Tyler to earn the win in the 50-Free, winning by a tenth of a second with her time of 26.16. 

Ren, May, Augst and Harris also teamed up to earn the Blue a victory in the 200-Medley Relay (1:51.40). 

First year diver Maura Sticco-Ivins continued her impressive rookie campaign, breaking her own school records in both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions. Sticco-Ivins led an impressive team display with a score of 332.34 in 1-meter and 329.10 in the 3-meter.

Sophomore Maddie Stern registered a 257.20, edging out senior Gabby Cooper Vepsa's 256.20 in the 1-meter. Stern then scored 285.75 in the 3-meter while Cooper-Vespa added a mark of 248.75. 

Blue swimming & diving will host a dual meet next Saturday when they welcome Connecticut College and Bates to Chandler Pool at 1:00 PM.
