Blue Swimming & Diving Wraps Up Weekend at Wheaton Invitational

NORTON, Mass. -- After earning three victories on Friday, Wellesley College swimming & diving went on to win 12 of 17 events on Saturday at the 2015 Wheaton Invitational.

Juniors Charlotte Harris and Dorothy Ren and sophomores Hannah Augst and Sharon Wu opened day two by setting the pace in the 200-Medley Relay, capturing the top time of 1:51.95. 

Ren, Patricia Chen, Leah Furman and Harris also guided the Blue to a second relay victory in the 400-Free Relay with a time of 3:44.62.

Both Harris and Ren then went on to pick up a pair of individual victories on the day, as both added to the individual victories they earned on Friday. Harris touched the wall first with a time of 4:51.36 in the 400-IM, she then went on to win the 100-Breaststroke with a time of 1:11.55. 

Ren was the top-finisher in the 100-Fly, clocking in under a minute with a time of 58.97, and the 100-Back (1:00.32). 

Augst also added an individual event victory, winning the 200-Free with a time of 2:00.41. 

In all, seven members of the Blue recorded the top time in an individual event: Fiona Chung delivered a 26.88 performance in a 50 Yard time trial. Furman then took the 100-Free with a time of 57.12, while Lindsey Wu won the the 200-Breaststroke in 2:32.32.

Junior Misha Olynyk capped off Wellesley's run of individual swimming event victories with one of her own, winning the 200-Fly in 2:22.36. 

In diving, first year Emily Moore delivered a winning performance of 441.05 on the 1-meter board to win. In the 3-meter, senior Gabby Cooper-Vespa was the Blue's top finisher at 390.20. A strong showing from Cooper-Vespa saw her finish within five points of first and a point of second.

Wellesley will now look forward to the 2015 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Swimming & Diving Championships in two weeks (February 19-22) at WPI.
