Sticco-Ivins Wins 3-meter Diving; Blue Swimming & Diving in Third After Day Two of 2015 NEWMAC Championships

Worcester, Mass. -  First year Maura Sticco-Ivins won the 3-meter diving title as Wellesley Swimming & Diving maintained its hold on third place at the 2015 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Swimming and Diving Championships hosted by WPI at the Sports & Recreation Center Pool.

Sticco-Ivins led the way with a score of 500.50 in the finals on the 3-meter board, outpacing Smith's Anna Partridge who amassed 467.45 points to claim second place.

The MIT women extended their lead after the first full day of action as the Engineers captured both relays and swept the top two spots in a pair of individual events to end Friday with 497 points.

Both Springfield College (303) and the Blue (286) jumped over host WPI (258) while Wheaton College (207) sits fifth. U.S. Coast Guard Academy (200.5) is sixth as Smith College (181) is seventh, Mount Holyoke College (164.5) is eighth, Clark University (138) is ninth and Babson College (91) is 10th.

Wellesley's 400 Medley Relay team of juniors Charlotte Harris and Dorothy Ren and sophomores Hannah Augst and Leah Furman grabbed a third place time in the final event of day one, capping a solid all-around day for the Blue by earning 40 points with a time of 3:55.99.

The Blue also raced to a seventh place finish in the 200-Free Relay, as Furman, classmate Sharon Wu, first year Lindsey Wu and senior Grace Bachman recorded a time of 1:40.17 in the A Final.

Individually, Furman went on to finish fifth in the 500-Free with a time of 5:05.73. Harris also had a strong showing in the event, taking eighth in the A Final with a time of 5:12.89.

Ren added another top-five time for the Blue in the A Final of the 200 IM, taking fourth with her time of 2:09.48.

Augst later finished seventh in the A Final of the 50-Free with a time of 24.66.

Tomorrow's action includes the 400-yard IM, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard medley relay. All of the action can be followed online live using the links below:
