Ren, 200-Medley Relay B Cuts Highlight Day Three of NEWMAC Championships for Blue Swimming & Diving

Worcester, Mass. --- Wellesley College continues to maintain its hold on third place following day three of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Swimming and Diving Championship at WPI's Sports & Recreation Center Pool.

MIT leads the way with 871 points followed by Springfield College (559), Wellesley  (498), host WPI (474) and Wheaton College (395). U.S. Coast Guard Academy is sixth (326.5) as Mount Holyoke College is seventh (265.5). Smith College is eighth (240), Clark University is ninth (205) and Babson College is 10th(121).

Highlighting the day for the Blue, junior Dorothy Ren's second place time of 57.50 in the final of the 100-Back was good for an NCAA B cut. Ren also took home third place in the final of the 100-Fly, narrowly missing another B cut with a time of 57.36. The Blue's Sarah May took seventh in the 100-Fly final with a time of 58.43.

Ren would later go on to help the Blue finish second in the final event of the day, the 200-Medley Relay. The Blue's 'A' team of Ren, Sharon Wu, Charlotte Harris and Hannah Augst finished just behind MIT with a time of 1:46.47, registering the Blue's second NCAA B cut of the the day. 

Individually, Harris would later add a fifth place finish in the A final of the 100-Breaststroke with a time of 1:06.69.

Sophomore Leah Furman secured another second place finish for the Blue in the final of the 200-Free with a time of 1:53.76.

The final day of competition features the 1,650-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly, 400-yard freestyle relay and 1-meter dive. Fans can follow all of the action online using the links below:
