Blue's Sticco-Ivins Earns National Runner-Up Honors on 1-Meter Board

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College swimming & diving's Maura Sticco-Ivins (Framingham, Mass.) rallied to score 470.80 in the Women's 1-meter Diving Final to finish as the national runner-up at the 2015 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships at the CISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas.

After recording a score of 423.50 to finish third in the preliminary round, Sticco-Ivins rallied to overtake second in the final with her mark of 470.80.

On Wednesday, she recorded a score of 500.35 to win the 3-meter national championship. Sticco-Ivins finishes the year as National Diver of the Year and an All-American on both the 1 and 3-meter boards. She also won the 1 and 3-meter championships at the 2015 NCAA Regional Championships and the 2015 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships on both boards this season.

The Wellesley College school-record holder in the 1-meter (11 dives), 1-meter (6 dives), 3-meter (6 dives), Sticco-Ivins earned NEWMAC Diver of the Week honors seven times and ECAC New England Division III Regional Diver of the Week five times this season. She joins Randelle Boots '13 and Karyn Cooper '92 as the only NCAA National Champions in Wellesley College history, as Boots won the mile at the 2011 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships and Cooper claimed the 1991 NCAA Tennis Singles Championship.
