Sticco-Ivins Wins 3-Meter as Wellesley Hosts NCAA DIII Diving Regional

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College sophomore Maura Sticco-Ivins (Framingham, Mass.) scored 520.85 to win the women's 3-Meter competition and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy senior William Porter (Houston, Texas) totaled 482.65 to win the men's 1-meter competition as Wellesley swimming & diving played host to day one of the 2016 NCAA Division III Northeast-North Regional Diving Championships on Friday afternoon at Chandler Pool. 

In the women's 3-meter, Sticco-Ivins, the defending NCAA National Champion in the event, took the event by 55.35 points over first year Morgan Matrana (Moraga, Calif.) of MIT. Matrana was second with a score of 465.50, while Rensselear senior Madeline Miller (Yardley, Pa.) scored 447.40 to finish in third place.

Matthew Rohrer (Katonah, N.Y.) of Tufts University followed Porter in second place in the men's 1-Meter, scoring 479.35. Sophomore Brandon Pearson (Wayzata, Minn.) was third with a score of 469.20.

The host Blue had two of the top-five divers on the day in the women's 3-Meter, as sophomore Emily Moore (Milwaukee, Wis.) took fifth with a score of 445.00. Junior Maddie Stern added a 16th place score of 394.70. Wellesley is one of only two schools (Smith) with three divers competing at the regional.
