WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College swimming & diving junior Maura Sticco-Ivins (Framingham, Mass.) and senior Maddie Stern (Phoenix, Ariz.) will compete in the 2017 NCAA Northeast North Regional Diving Championships, Friday and Saturday, February 24 and 25, at MIT's Zesiger Sports & Fitness Center Pool in Cambridge.

Sticco-Ivins and Stern will join 51 other divers from across the northeast in the regional competition, where the top women's and men's qualifiers will advance to the 2017 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, March 15-18, 2017, at the Conroe ISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas. Sticco-Ivins is hoping for a return trip to Shenandoah, where she claimed the NCAA Division III 3-Meter Diving National Title as a first year in 2015.

Sticco-Ivins enters the weekend as the defending regional champion on both boards, having swept the 1 and 3-meter competition when Wellesley hosted the 2016 NCAA Regional at Chandler Pool. The Wellesley junior is coming off a successful New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship weekend that saw her earn her third consecutive NEWMAC Diver of the Year Award while defending her 1 and 3-meter conference titles for the third-straight year. Sticco-Ivins scored 491.80 to win the 1-meter and 525.60 to win the 3-meter at NEWMACs.

Stern joined Sticco-Ivins on the podium in both events at the NEWMAC Championships, finishing eighth in the 1-meter competition and fifth in 3-meter diving. Stern's fifth place score of 459.10 on the 3-meter was a career-best for the Wellesley senior. At last year's regional, Stern was ninth on the 3-meter board with a score of 425.40 and 13th on the 1-meter with a mark of 381.30. Stern will make the fourth NCAA Regional appearance of her career this weekend, having qualified in ever season she was eligible.
