Wellesley Diving's Sticco-Ivins Win's 1-Meter Regional Title, Stern Takes 10th

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. --  Wellesley College swimming & diving junior Maura Sticco-Ivins (Framingham, Mass.) took first place on the 1-meter board and senior Maddie Stern (Phoenix, Ariz.) added a tenth place finish for the Blue on day one of the 2017 NCAA Northeast North Regional Diving Championships at MIT's Zesiger Sports & Fitness Center Pool in Cambridge.

Sticco-Ivins scored 471.80 to win the 1-meter regional title for the third time in her career. She will be aiming for her third-straight 3-meter title on Saturday. Stern was tenth with a score of 417.50, as the Blue joined regional host MIT and NYU as one of three schools with two divers in the top-ten. Williams College's Ariana Ross (463.10) and MIT's Vivian Zhou (459.75) joined Sticco-Ivins on the podium, taking second and third, respectively. 

Action continues tomorrow with women's 3-meter diving beginning at 2:00 PM. Qualifiers for the 2017 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, March 15-18, 2017, at the Conroe ISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas will be announced following Saturday's competition. For more information, visit mitathletics.com
