Sticco-Ivins Wins 3-Meter Regional Title, Advances to NCAAs For Third-Straight Year

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Wellesley College swimming & diving junior Maura Sticco-Ivins (Framingham, Mass.) scored 514.95 to win her third career 3-Meter Diving Regional Championship on Saturday at the 2017 NCAA Northeast North Regional Diving Championships at MIT's Zesiger Sports & Fitness Center Pool in Cambridge.

With her second win of the weekend, Sticco-Ivins has qualified for the 2017 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships and will make her third trip to the national meet, March 15-18, 2017, at the Conroe ISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas. The official list of qualifiers will be announced on Monday. On Friday, Sticco-Ivins scored 471.80 to win the 1-meter regional title for the third time in her career. This will be Sticco-Ivins' second career trip to Shenandoah, the site where she won the 2015 NCAA Division III 3-Meter Diving National Championship.

Competing for the final time in her Wellesley career, senior Maddie Stern (Phoenix, Ariz.) capped her fourth NCAA Regional appearance in four years with a score of 409.19 to take 14th place in the 3-meter competition. Stern scored 417.50 to finish in tenth during Friday's 1-meter competition. Also in the 3-meter, Carmen White of NYU added a second place finish with a score of 491.10, while Vivian Zhou of host MIT finished in third with a score of 486.40.
