Wellesley’s Sticco-Ivins Wins 3rd Career NCAA Title; First In One-Meter Diving

SHENANDOAH, Texas – Wellesley College junior Maura Sticco-Ivins (Framingham, Mass.) scored 475.40 to win the 2017 NCAA Division III women's one-meter diving National Championship on Friday night at the 2017 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships at the Conroe ISD Natatorium.

A two-time NCAA national champion in three-meter diving, Friday's win on the one-meter board is the first for Sticco-Ivins, following a runner-up performance at the NCAA Championships in 2015 and an 11th place finish in 2016. Already the only Wellesley College student-athlete to win two NCAA individual titles, thanks to her three-meter title earlier this week, Sticco-Ivins is now in a class of her own as the only three-time national champion in Wellesley history.

Sticco-Ivins entered the evening session in third place thanks to her score of 430.00 during Friday's preliminary 11-dive competition. She went on to finish with a score of 475.40 including a high score of 56.40 on her third dive to win the national championship.

On Wednesday, Sticco-Ivins scored 504.00 to win her second three-meter national championship. Also the 2015 three-meter diving national champion, Sticco-Ivins is a five-time All-American, earning the honor three times in three-meter diving (2015, 2016, 2017) and twice in one-meter diving (2015, 2017). The 2015 CSCAA Division III National Diver of the Year and a three-time New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Diver of the Year, Sticco-Ivins has won six NEWMAC Championships and six NCAA Regional Diving titles in three years at Wellesley. Sticco-Ivins also holds all four Wellesley school diving records.

Friday's action at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships concludes the 2016-17 season for Sticco-Ivins and the Wellesley College swimming & diving team.
