Swimming & Diving's Sticco-Ivins Garners CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

WELLESLEY, Mass. – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released the 2016-17 Academic All-District At-Large Team on Thursday afternoon, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. After sweeping both boards at the NCAA Division III Championships, Wellesley College swimming & diving junior Maura Sticco-Ivins has earned a spot on the District I (New England) All-District First Team.

Sticco-Ivins is now eligible to be considered for CoSIDA's Academic All-America Team, as selected by Sports Information Directors from across the country. First-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in June. 

The most decorated student-athlete in Wellesley College history, Sticco-Ivins has now won three NCAA Division III individual national championships, after concluding the 2016-17 season by winning the 1- and 3-meter diving titles. Sticco-Ivins also won the 3-meter in 2015. A six-time NCAA regional and New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Champion, the Biochemistry major from Framingham, Mass. was also named to the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference team for the first time this season and has previously earned College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America honors. 

CoSIDA began the distinguished Academic All-America program in 1952, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America scholar-athlete honors. To be nominated by their Sports Information Director, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
