Wellesley Swim & Dive's Sticco-Ivins Named To CoSIDA Academic All-America Team

WELLESLEY, Mass. – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) has released the 2016-17 Academic All-America® Division III Women's At-Large Team and Wellesley College swimming & diving junior Maura Sticco-Ivins (Framingham, Mass.) has earned a spot on the Academic All-America Second Team. 

The NCAA Division III 1-Meter and 3-Meter Diving Champion in 2017, Sticco-Ivins becomes just the ninth student-athlete in Wellesley College history to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors and the first since Lauren Goldfarb '13 earned the honor for a second time in 2013Sticco-Ivins is the first member of the Wellesley College Swimming & Diving program to ever win the award. 

An Academic All-District First Team selection earlier this year, Sticco-Ivins has won three NCAA Division III individual national championships, after concluding the 2016-17 season by winning the 1- and 3-meter diving titles. Sticco-Ivins also won the 3-meter in 2015. She is also a six-time NCAA regional and New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Champion, having swept the 1- and 3-meter boards in each of the last three years. 

A Biochemistry major, Sticco-Ivins earned a spot on the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference team for the first time this season and has previously earned College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America honors. 

CoSIDA began the distinguished Academic All-America® program in 1952, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America scholar-athlete honors. To be nominated by their Sports Information Director, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
