Wellesley Swimming & Diving Opens NEWMAC Championships With 800 Free Relay

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Wellesley College swimming & diving took sixth in the 800 Freestyle Relay on Thursday evening at MIT's Zeisger Center Pool to begin four days of competition at the 2018 New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Swimming & Diving Championships.

Wellesley's 'A' Relay of sophomore Danielle Peterson (Livingston, N.J.), first year Emily Yeager (Pittsfield, Mass.), and juniors Jessie Feng (Princeton, N.J.) and Sunny Chiang (Troy, Mich.) combined for a time of 7:51.80 to earn the Blue their first 34 points of the weekend. Wellesley was also sixth in the 'B' Final, behind a time of 8:02.99 from sophomores Kayleigh Svensson (Palo Alto, Calif.) and Maggie Haley (Shady Side, Md.), senior Patricia Chen (Natick, Mass.), and first year Margaret Harrigan (Chatham, N.J.). 

Action continues Friday in the 200 Free Relay, 500 Free, 200 IM, 50 Free, and 400 Medley Relay, as well as 3-Meter Diving. Swimming preliminaries will take place at 10:00 AM, with finals in both swimming & diving beginning at 6:00 PM. Diving preliminaries begin at 1:15 PM.
