Wellesley Diving's Sticco-Ivins Qualifies For Fourth Straight Trip To NCAAs
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Three-time national champion Maura Sticco-Ivins (Framingham, Mass.) is headed back to the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships. The Wellesley College senior scored 427.15 to take runner-up honors on the one-meter board on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Region 3 Diving Championships at Middlebury College. With the performance, Sticco-Ivins earned one of the region's nine qualifying spots to this year's NCAA Championships.
A two-time national diver of the year and the defending national champion on both the one and three-meter boards, Sticco-Ivins will make her fourth appearance at the NCAA national meet, with this year's championships set to be held March 21-24, 2018, at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis, Indiana. She will compete in both one and three-meter diving, after scoring 448.00 to take fourth in the three-meter on Friday evening at Middlebury.
After placing 18th (369.05) in the three-meter on Friday, Wellesley first year Noelle Bergere (Madison, Conn.) jumped up three spots to finish in 15th place in the one-meter on Saturday. Bergere, who was making her first regional appearance for the Blue, scored 374.55 on the one-meter.
