Wellesley Diving's Sticco-Ivins Set For Final Trip To NCAA Championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Three-time NCAA national champion Maura Sticco-Ivins (Framingham, Mass.) will compete in her final collegiate events when she represents Wellesley College at the 2018 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships on March 22nd and 24th at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is the first Wellesley diver in program history to compete at the NCAA Championships in all four years of her career.

The Wellesley senior will begin her fourth trip to nationals with competition in one-meter diving on Thursday, March 22. One-meter diving begins at the end of the 10:00 AM morning session, with finals slated to take place following the conclusion of the 200-yard freestyle during Finals on Thursday at 6:00 PM.

Sticco-Ivins claimed her first one-meter national title in 2017, winning the event for the first first time after taking runner-up honors as a first year in 2015 and finishing in 11th place in 2016. Sticco-Ivins holds the Wellesley school record on the one-meter (11-dive) with a mark of 546.65. She enters this year's championships with a top score of 476.45 on the season, good for runner-up and All-Conference honors at this year's New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships.

Sticco-Ivins will then close out her decorated career on the three-meter board on Saturday. Sticco-Ivins has dominated the event throughout her career at the NCAA Championships, winning the national title in both 2015 and 2017, while also finishing as the national runner-up in 2016. She also swept the three-meter title at the NEWMAC Championships in all four years of competition and holds the Wellesley school record in the event with an 11-dive mark of 529.50.

Three-meter diving trials will begin at the end of the 10:00 AM morning session, while Finals will take place following the conclusion of the finals of the 200-yard breaststroke during Saturday's 6:00 PM finals.
