Wellesley's Sticco-Ivins Earns All-American Honors; Takes 4th in 1-Meter at NCAAs

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Wellesley College swimming & diving senior Maura Sticco-Ivins (Framingham, Mass.) opened her final NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championship appearance by earning her sixth career All-American honor during Thursday's one-meter diving competition at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI. 

Sticco-Ivins scored 453.25 to take fourth place on the one-meter board. Ithaca College graduate student Nickie Griesemer (West Chester, Pa.) took home the national title with a mark of 467.60. Sticco-Ivins finishes her one-meter career as a three-time All-American and one-time honorable mention All-American in four years at the NCAA Championships.

Sticco-Ivins entered Thursday night's final in third place after scoring 438.95 in the preliminary round. The Wellesley senior trailed only Griesemer and New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) rival Blake Zhou (Palo Alto, Calif.) of MIT. However, in the end Griesemer would maintain her grip on the top spot to claim her first national title.

Sticco-Ivins will close out her decorated career on the three-meter board on Saturday, March 24. She has dominated the event throughout her career at the NCAA Championships, winning the national title in both 2015 and 2017, while also finishing as the national runner-up in 2016. She also swept the three-meter title at the NEWMAC Championships in all four years of competition and holds the Wellesley school record in the event with an 11-dive mark of 529.50.
