Wellesley Swimming & Diving Breaks Into CSCAA DIII Top-25 National Poll

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College swimming & diving is ranked number 25 in the latest College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) / TYR Top 25 Division III National Poll, released on December 13, 2019.

The Blue are also ranked eighth in the Northeast-North region following a strong showing at last weekend's MIT Invitational, where Wellesley finished third behind Tufts and MIT, the sixth and eighth ranked teams in the nation, respectively. The Blue are currently undefeated in dual meets, with victories over regionally-ranked Wheaton (Mass.), local rival Simmons and Seven Sisters rival Mount Holyoke College.

Selected to finish sixth in this year's New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Preseason Coaches poll, the Blue are off to a strong start to the season thanks in part to the immediate contributions of a talented group of first year swimmers, including Elizabeth Park (Dix Hills, N.Y.), who already owns a pair of program records (100 and 200 Breaststroke). Returning sophomore Jessica Wegner (Taipei, Taiwan) has also taken down a pair of program records in the 100 Fly and the 100 IM.

The CSCAA poll aims to measure the top teams in head-to-head competition. The rankings are voted on by CSCAA-member coaches and select media. A complete list of the TYR Top 25 rankings is available at: cscaa.org/top25

Wellesley returns to the pool on Friday, January 10, 2020 to host NEWMAC rivals Babson and Coast Guard at 1:00 PM. The next poll is scheduled to be released on February 4th.
