Wellesley Swim and Dive Impresses On First Day of Sisters Invitational

HOLYOKE, Mass. - Wellesley College swimming and diving sit in first place after day one of the Sisters Invitational at Mount Holyoke College Natatorium.

Wellesley opened the day winning the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:43.80 . The team consisted of sophomores JJ Kim (New Haven, Conn.), Maya Hart (Menlo Park, Calif.), Cecilia Cai (Palo Alto, Calif.), and junior McKaela Glanville (Menlo Park, Calif.).

First year Kavita Sekhon (Los Angeles, Calif.) took first in the 50 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 30.46, followed by Wellesley junior Ariana Mitsuoka (Centennial, Colo.) and first year Lara Dashti (Kuwait) taking second and third. Additionally, Sekhon took first in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a 1:06.92

Cai earned more victories in the 500 Yard Freestyle swimming a 5:19.74 and the 400 Yard IM with a 4:42.39. Afterwards first year Tracey Liu (Princeton, N.J.) continued Wellesley's winning ways in the 50 Yard Backstroke winning by over a second with a 27.70. Liu continued by winning the 100 Yard Backstroke race with a 1:02.22. 

Dashti took first in the in 200 Yard IM race swimming a 2:13.11. Mitsuoka made it another first place in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a 25.11. 

The 4x400 Medley Relay team of Liu, Sekhon, first year Aubrey Cantrell (Palo Alto, Calif.), and Mitsuoka won with a 4:04.61. The same foursome also won the 4x200 Medley Relay race with a 1:50.58. Cantrell was the only swimmer to post a sub two-minute time of 1:59.06 in the 200 Yard Freestyle race.

Kim placed fourth in the 100 Yard Butterfly swimming a 1:04.98. Junior Mona Li (Cary, N.C.) led the Blue with a seventh place finish in the 50 Yard Butterfly.

The Blue closed their day by winning the 4x800 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 8:00.99 with a time of Cantrell, Cai, Mitsuoka, and Glanville.

The Blue return tomorrow morning for the second day of the Sisters Invitational.
