Bio

Hussein Yassine joins the Blue Swimming & Diving program in 2016. He will also serve as the Assistant Aquatic Director for the Department of Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics.

Yassine swam at the national level for the Wichita Swim Club, where he was a central zone champion and a top-eight finisher at the regional and state level. He went on to become the Maize South High School (MSHS) Head Coach for both the boys and girls swim teams from 2009-2014. During his time as head coach, the MSHS Eagles boys' team won five-consecutive the league titles before going on to place in the top-eight at the state meet. Hussein also led the MSHS Mavericks girls team to the league title in four of his five years, while also earning top eight finishes at states. Hussein has coached multiple Kansas state record holders and High School All-Americans.

Hussein's former athletes have gone on to swim at the collegiate level at schools such as the University of North Carolina, Cleveland State, South Dakota State, the University of Minnesota and Missouri State University, and have also qualified for Olympic trials. In addition to coaching high school swimming, he has also coached USA Age Group swimmers at North Suburban YMCA in Woburn, Mass.
