Blue Tennis Wraps Play at ITA Regional

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Three members of the Wellesley College tennis wrapped up action at the 2013 ITA New England Regional Championships on Saturday. 

Representing Wellesley at the event were junior 
Sojung Lee, and first years Carina Chen and Andjela Stojkovic. The event featured a 64-player singles bracket, a 32-team doubles bracket, and consolation brackets for both.

Lee played in the singles round of 16 on Saturday, after recording two wins on Friday. Lee drew the second-ranked player in the bracket, Middlebury's Ria Gerger, and fell 6-3, 6-0, to end her solid tournament run.

In the singles consolation bracket, Chen fell to Wheaton's number one, Alexandra Marlowe, 6-3, 7-5. Stojkovic ended her tournament with a 6-4, 6-2, defeat at the hands of Trinity's Senzo Mavune-Maphisa.

Lee, Chen, Stojkovic, and the rest of the Wellesley tennis team now return to dual match action. The Blue have a busy week of NEWMAC matches ahead, traveling to Wheaton for a 4:00pm match on Tuesday, and then heading to Babson for an 11:00am conference clash on Saturday.
