#28 Blue Tennis Rebounds with 8-1 Triumph Over Mount Holyoke

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - The #28 Wellesley College tennis team got back on track with an 8-1 triumph over NEWMAC opponent Mount Holyoke on Sunday. The win lifts the Blue to 3-2, 2-1 in the conference, while the Lyons fall to 3-3 overall, 1-2 in the NEWMAC.

Wellesley was dominant throughout most of the match, taking all three doubles to start the day. Senior Sojung Lee and sophomore Carina Chen combined for an 8-4 win over MHC junior Margaux Holloschutz and Ishita Tibrewal in the first flight. In the second flight, first-year Caroline Hsu and sophomore Andjela Stojkovic defeated Lyons' senior Sarah Anischik and sophomore Amy Chen, 8-3.

Rounding out the doubles was the Wellesley third flight pair of sophomore Samantha Stone and first year Emily Olson, who notched an 8-4 victory over sophomore Alexa Colas and junior Michelle Cai.

Singles action saw Lee down Holloschutz in the first flight by a 6-2, 6-3 margin. Stojkovic defeated Anischik in the second, 6-0, 6-1, while Chen posted a 6-1, 6-4 victory over sophomore Mira Murali In the fifth flight, Stone was the victor over Colas, 6-1, 7-5, while sophomore Caroline Dickensheets breezed by Cai, 6-1, 6-1 in the sixth flight.

Mount Holyoke got on the board in the fourth flight. Tibrewal squared off against the Blue's Hsu, posting a 6-1 win in the opening set. Hsu battled back for a 4-6 win in the second, but Tibrewal toughed it out for a 10-8 third set win and match victory. 

Both teams return to action next Saturday as Mount Holyoke travels to MIT (1pm), while Wellesley is at Clark (12pm).
