Five Wellesley Tennis Student-Athletes Named to NEWMAC All-Conference Teams

BOSTON, Mass. – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released the 2014 women's tennis all-conference teams on Wednesday and five Wellesley College student-athletes gained recognition for their play during the 2014 fall season.

Wellesley College's Andjela Stojkovic and Caroline Hsu garnered First Team All-Conference honors at number two doubles. The duo combined to go 8-1 overall on the season and 7-0 in NEWMAC play. Stojkovic and Hsu finished the regular-season on a six match win streak and went 7-1 at number two doubles.

Four members of the Blue were named to the All-Conference second team, led by Sojung Lee at number one singles. Lee was joined by Carina Chen at number three singles, Hsu at number four singles and Dasha Kostikina at number six singles. In addition, Kostikina earned a spot on the Women's Tennis Academic All-Conference Team after earning a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 after the 2014 spring semester.

Lee finished the season at 5-3 overall and 5-2 at number one singles in the NEWMAC. Chen went 6-2 overall, going 5-1 in NEWMAC matches and 4-2 at number three singles. Hsu finished the year with a record of 5-3, going 4-2 in the NEWMAC while Kostikina went a perfect 5-0 overall and 2-0 at number six singles. 

Blue Tennis will return to action in the spring, hosting both the Nor'Easter Bowl and the annual Seven Sisters Championship in March.

The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 11 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Emerson College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Of these 11 schools, all but the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute sponsor women's tennis.
