Lee Leads Blue Tennis to 6-3 Senior Day Victory Over Stonehill

WELLESLEY, Mass. — Wellesley College tennis senior Sojung Lee won a pair of matches to help the Blue to a 6-3 victory over Division II Stonehill College on Saturday afternoon at the Wellesley College tennis courts. 

Playing in her final home match, Lee caps her career in Blue with an individual record of 112-63 to go along with three NEWMAC All-conference selections and a pair of selections to the NCAA doubles tournament. 

Lee and sophomore Carina Chen earned the Blue's only victory in doubles on the afternoon, defeating Victoria Barbetta and Emma Prinos at number one doubles, 8-1.

Stonehill took 8-5 wins at number two and number three doubles as Meryl Lawrence and Amanda DePasquale defeated sophomores Dasha Kostikina and Samantha Stone, while Stonehill's Corrie MacLean and Colleen O'Donnell topped Wellesley's Caorline Dickensheets and Victoria Wu.  

The Blue took advantage of singles play, winning five of the six matches to take the 6-3 team victory. Lee defeated Barbetta (6-0, 6-1) at number one, while Chen topped Prinos at number two (6-3, 6-3). The Blue also swept the number three and four singles matches, with Caroline Hsu defeating Lawrence (6-2, 6-1) at three and Emily Olson besting O'Donnell at four. 

Stonehill's only victory in singles play came at number five when Lorraine Smith defeated Andjela Stojkovic in three sets (6-3, 3-6, 6-3). Dickensheets closed out the Wellesley victory at number six with a 5-7, 6-1, 10-8 come from behind victory. 

Today's match concludes the 2014-15 regular season for Wellesley College tennis, The program finishes the year with a 14-7 record, matching the Blue's win total from the previous season.
