Blue Tennis Blanks Clark, 9-0

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College tennis improved to 4-1 and 3-1 in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Saturday, defeating visiting Clark University, 9-0, at Wellesley's Outdoor Courts. The visiting Cougars drop to 3-4 overall following their second conference loss to open the season.

The Blue took 8-1 victories in all three doubles matches before going on to sweep singles play.

At #1 Singles, Wellesley junior Andjela Stojkovic (Victoria, British Columbia, Canada) and Clark sophomore Isabelle Long (Bellevue, Wash.) played the closest match of the afternoon, with Stojkovic getting the better of Long in a 6-4, 6-3 victory.

At #2 Singles, first year Justine Huang (Coto de Caza, Calif.) defeated first year Emily Shuman (Needham, Mass.), 6-2, 6-0. The Blue went on to earn 6-0, 6-0 sweeps at both #3 and #5 Singles, as junior Carina Chen (Hong Kong) defeated Clark senior Kera Snyder (South Portland, Maine) and first year So Jin Ki (Seoul, South Korea) defeated senior Rebecca Kravetz (Wayland, Mass.).

At #4 Singles, first year Tristan Lorich (New York, N.Y.) cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Adrien Horowitz (Arvada, Colo.), while junior Caroline Dickensheets (Alpharetta, Ga.) closed out the sweep with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Misa Mai (Sanford, Maine) at #6 Singles.

Wellesley tennis will be back in action tomorrow afternoon, when they travel to play Williams at 2:00 PM. Clark will continue NEWMAC play in their next match at 4:00 PM on Monday, September 21, at Springfield.
